What costs are involved in my exam?
If you have vision insurance or medical insurance that covers vision exams, you are responsible only for your co-pay and any excluded charges. If you do not have eye insurance, the cost for a routine glasses eye exam at Stratton Eyes is $105. This includes a health screening of your eyes, as well as a refraction to determine the best prescription to correct your vision. If you wear contact lenses, a fitting range between $40-$55 depending on your prescription. If you are trying contacts for the first time, the cost of fitting is $88. Contact lenses put an additional strain on your eyes, so extra tests are required to make sure your eyes are healthy and to fit you with the best brand and size of lenses. If you choose to have the Optomap Retinal Exam, there is an additional $39 charge. If you choose to have your eyes examined by one of our doctors, you will receive 30% off any frames and basic lenses after being examined by one of our doctors. Find out more on our pricing page, or ask our front desk staff for more information.
How do I order contact lenses and glasses?
If we have your prescription on file, you can order your contact lenses over the phone or in person. To pick out your next pair of glasses, stop by our office to try on frames and get the professional opinion of one of our opticians. You can also order your contact lenses right here from our site! Fill out the order form via the link “Order Contacts” located on our home page. Upon completing the form, your order will be automatically processed and forwarded to the Stratton Eyes staff to confirm that your prescription is up to date as well as take your payment and confirm shipping preferences.
What do I need to bring with me to my appointment?

When you come for any exam, please bring your photo ID, insurance cards, current glasses or contact lenses, and a list of all medications you are taking. If you are a new patient, you can save time by filling out the patient forms online here. No need to bring a copy with you, just submit it online and it will upload to your patient file.

I don’t wear glasses or contacts. Do I still need an exam?
Even if you don’t need corrective lenses, it is a good idea to have an annual eye exam. Many degenerative eye diseases have no symptoms until vision becomes impaired. In many cases, these diseases are very treatable if they are detected early. We especially recommend annual exams for any patients with a family history of glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetes, or other systemic diseases.
I’ve never had an eye exam before and I’m nervous. What should I expect?
The procedures we perform during your exam are non-invasive and completely painless! The doctors, technicians, opticians, and staff at Stratton Eyes are very experienced, and will explain all tests and procedures as they perform them. Feel free to speak up if you have any questions, but rest assured that there’s no need to worry!
What happens during a routine eye exam?
A routine eye exam at Stratton Eyes includes a thorough medical eye examination as well as a refraction to determine the best prescription for your contact or glasses lenses. You can also choose to have the Optomap Retinal Scan to generate a high-resolution image of the back of your eye, which we will keep as a part of your permanent file. If you wear contact lenses, we will do additional tests to check the health of your cornea and determine the best brand, size, and fit for your contact lenses.
Why should I buy my glasses at Stratton Eyes instead of a discount vision vendor?
At Stratton Eyes, we carry only durable, high-quality products. Not only do we provide a wide range of fashionable frame options, we also know that the frames and lenses we sell will provide our patients with the best possible vision. Also, all of our glasses come with a one-year warranty, so you don’t have to worry that your purchase won’t last. Ask one of our opticians for more information!
Can I pay with my HSA?
